Love endures all things.

Darby McKenzie’s heart started beating funny the day that she met Trace Chamberlain. She was four, he was five, and that meeting altered the course of both their lives forever.

Trace was born into a nightmare. Before meeting Darby and her family, the only love he ever knew was that of his twin brother. The two of them endured years of abuse that left scars. The permanent kind.

For Trace, meeting Darby was like catching a rainbow. She exploded into his life in a pop of Technicolor that awakened his senses. She wasn’t just his best friend—she was his life. His touchstone, his safety, his heart—she was everything.

Darby had been through it all with Trace and her love for him never wavered for a second. But no amount of love could make Trace believe that he was worthy of her. Knowing that she deserved better, Trace pushed her away, when what he really wanted was to pull her closer. Emotionally destroyed and bitter from the back and forth, Darby finally let go and decided to move on.

Sometimes hitting rock bottom is the only way to understand that you need to change. Realizing that losing Darby means losing everything, Trace sets out to fight for the love of his life.

Is it too late for Darby and Trace to have a happily ever after?

Excerpt #1

“We can talk every day on the phone or by text and Skype, right?” he asked anxiously.

I knew if I said yes, he’d call every day.  Distance would be useless if I didn’t put my foot down.

“Once a week,” I told him.  “Pick a day and we’ll talk then. This is our time to redefine our relationship.”

“I don’t want anything to change,” he complained.  “I don’t want to see less of you or spend six fucking days a week not hearing your voice. Even thinking about doing it makes me feel sick.”

I understood how he felt because I was experiencing all the same anxiety, but I stood my ground.

“This is the way it needs to be for a while,” I answered.  “You can like it or lump it, but I’m not backing down. Call me next Friday.”

When I went to leave, I let him hug me because friends hugged.  I counted off five seconds and then pulled away.  He tried to hold tighter, but I wiggled away.  The benefits of being strong meant that he couldn’t keep me where I didn’t want to be.

“We can’t hug?” he asked in a panicked tone.

“We can,” I said calmly.  “When I hug Tristan, it’s probably a two or three second process.  I gave you five.  Friends don’t hug for minutes at a time unless there’s a crisis.”

“This is a crisis! You’re fucking leaving me.”

I knew then that drawing it out any more was only going to make things worse.  There were times when cutting something short was the way to go, and that moment was one of them.

“This isn’t a crisis,” I refuted calmly.  “This is a reality.  I’ll talk to you next week.  Take care of yourself.”

I kept my chin up as I walked away, and I ignored him when he called out my name three separate times.

You’re playing dirty,” he said huskily.

“Who, me?” I scoffed.  “Never.  What makes you say that?”

He rubbed his hand along the back of his neck as he stared at me, his eyes taking in every inch of my face.

“I don’t know, Darby.  Maybe it’s the fact that you’re naked except for a pair of high heels?  I don’t stand a chance.”

“Oh!” I answered with a laugh as I gestured down at my body.  “This old thing?  This isn’t me playing dirty,” I assured him.

“You don’t think so?”

“No,” I assured him.  “But this is.”

I dropped to my knees without warning, and I smiled as I came face to face with the fact that he had a very visible hard-on.

“This is crazy,” he groaned as I ran my hand over his erection.

“Something like that,” I agreed.

I worked fast to get his tuxedo pants open, quickly pulling them down along with his boxers so that I could grip him.  Gripping his erection, I looked up at him and wiggled my brows suggestively.

“Did you still want to sleep on the couch?”

The pained look that flashed across his face was priceless, and I choked out a laugh as his eyebrows shot up toward his hairline.

“I should go sleep on the couch,” he answered huskily.  “But I can’t.”

Cooper Ryan is living the dream. Between the parties with rock royalty, booze, groupies and performing to crowds of thousands with his band Taint, life seems pretty sweet. There’s just one thing missing: the feisty little red-head that took his baby and ran off with his heart. Throwing himself into music is the only thing keeping him sane.

Until a run-in with a nonplussed, package-wielding PA throws everything off balance.

Ali Jones is having a craptastic life. Her grandmother died, leaving her homeless, penniless, and alone, and her boyfriend left her for a tramp who takes her clothes off for money. That’s why when she lands her dream job at a record company it seems like it’s too good to be true.

Because it is.

Slapped with an ultimatum, Ali must decide if facing the horror of the unemployment line is a fate worse than going on the road with four rowdy rockers hell-bent on making her life misery.

He’s adored by millions.

Excerpt

My vision is partly obstructed by Ali, but the sight of her head bobbing as she takes him in her mouth is all I need to know what’s going on. Levi meets my gaze across the limo. There’s gloating there—that much is obvious—but there’s also understanding. When you spend as much time together as we do, you come to know your bandmates pretty well. For all his talk, he’s not as big of a douche as he claims to be. He may not ever sleep with the same woman more than once—with the exception of Ali, I guess—but I know he’s not immune to the loneliness our lifestyle creates. It’s strange how you can be adored by millions and yet completely alone all at the same time.

He slides his hand into her hair and closes his eyes, throwing his head back against the seat.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck,” he whispers, and then he gathers her hair to the side and shifts her body so that my view is completely unobstructed. I watch as she works her hands up his shaft in time with her mouth. He doesn’t attempt to fuck the back of her throat and make her choke on it, the way we both had that first night we fucked her. Instead, his touch is gentle. Reverent.

It makes me crazy, and hot as fucking hell. I shift uncomfortably, adjusting my cock within my jeans. I don’t make a move towards them, though I want to. I want to bury myself inside her and mark her as mine, but at this point the lines are so fucking blurred it doesn’t matter whom she belongs to. Him. Me. The both of us, or neither one.

I lean forward, taking a glass from the shelf and a crystal decanter filled with amber liquor, and I pour myself a drink, and then I slide back into the leather to watch.

“Play with yourself, Red,” he whispers.

“No.”

“Do it,” I say, and she turns around to glare at me. I can’t tell if she’s disappointed I’m not joining in, or if she forgot I was even here.

“I don’t want—”

“Why are you suddenly so embarrassed?” I say sharply, swigging back more of the scotch than I should.

“I’m not embarrassed. I’d actually rather that you joined in.”
“I’m watching,” I say, eyeing her coolly over my glass. She scowls at me a moment and then she kneels up, steadying herself with one hand on Levi’s thigh. She wriggles her skirt up over her hips and bends over. Everything is on display as she takes him in her mouth again. I close my eyes, not wanting to watch her on her knees in front of him, her head bent low, her full fuck-me lips wrapped around Levi’s cock. I feel as if I’m on a ride that’s spinning out of control and I can’t find a way off. I can’t make it stop. And I so badly want it to stop.

Snippet #12

The front door scraped along the floor just as Sade made it to the back. His hands slid over the wall, and metal clanked loudly. Stilling his shallow breaths, he felt at the objects he touched and worked at freeing one.
“Johnny?”
Sade held back a gasp of shock at finding a knife. He waited for a few seconds to see what the man’s intentions were, what direction he was moving in.
“I just wanna help you, son,” he finally said. “That’s all.” He gasped several times and then chuckled. “I see you found your friend? Are you going to help set him free? Of course you are. Be careful with that treble hook—it’s a one way street. But without a doubt, a tool of mercy,” he whispered, sounding reverent as he got closer. “I have the tool to remove it without too much damage. But he really needed that wound, son.” His voice broke with empathy. “His beauty blinds him. This will help him see.”
Sade angled his head, still unable to discern where he was in the dark. Just closer.
“God has shown me he has great plans for all of you. Aren’t you excited about that?”
With those final hissed words, Sade grabbed hold of a shelf with both hands and pulled with all he had sending shit crashing to the floor. Sade spun and slipped out the back, sprinted down the pier, and went straight into the water. “Hold this!” He handed Mercy the spear contraption and sliced the fishing line carefully with the knife.
“He’s coming!” Mercy tapped her hand rapidly on the pier. “I think he’s coming!”
“Fuck! Bo, can you swim?”
He nodded, the whites showing all around his eyes.
“I got you,” Sade put his hand on the back of his head. “We’ll swim under the pier back to the boathouse.”
Sade took the spear gun from Mercy and held the knife between his teeth. He
went from post to post beneath the pier, making sure they stayed close behind him. Fucking pier was three times longer in the back of the boathouse, making the trip agonizing.
Erratic footsteps clonked, accompanied by light singing just ahead of them. “Father Abraham… has many sons…. Many sons has Faaaaather Abraham. I am one… and so are you… sooooo let’s all praise the Lord!”

The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon

The Law of Moses is on sale for 99 cents for a limited time-

LAW OF MOSES LINKS

If I tell you right up front, right in the beginning that I lost him, it will be easier for you to bear. You will know it’s coming, and it will hurt. But you’ll be able to prepare.
Someone found him in a laundry basket at the Quick Wash, wrapped in a towel, a few hours old and close to death. They called him Baby Moses when they shared his story on the ten o’clock news – the little baby left in a basket at a dingy Laundromat, born to a crack addict and expected to have all sorts of problems. I imagined the crack baby, Moses, having a giant crack that ran down his body, like he’d been broken at birth. I knew that wasn’t what the term meant, but the image stuck in my mind. Maybe the fact that he was broken drew me to him from the start. It all happened before I was born, and by the time I met Moses and my mom told me all about him, the story was old news and nobody wanted anything to do with him. People love babies, even sick babies. Even crack babies. But babies grow up to be kids, and kids grow up to be teenagers. Nobody wants a messed up teenager. And Moses was messed up. Moses was a law unto himself. But he was also strange and exotic and beautiful. To be with him would change my life in ways I could never have imagined. Maybe I should have stayed away. Maybe I should have listened. My mother warned me. Even Moses warned me. But I didn’t stay away.
And so begins a story of pain and promise, of heartache and healing, of life and death. A story of before and after, of new beginnings and never-endings. But most of all . . . a love story.

The Song of David** This book is a STANDALONE novel featuring characters that were introduced in The Law of Moses. It is not a sequel, but it is a spin-off. **

I won my first fight when I was eleven years old, and I’ve been throwing punches ever since. Fighting is the purest, truest, most elemental thing there is. Some people describe heaven as a sea of unending white. Where choirs sing and loved ones await. But for me, heaven was something else. It sounded like the bell at the beginning of a round, it tasted like adrenaline, it burned like sweat in my eyes and fire in my belly. It looked like the blur of screaming crowds and an opponent who wanted my blood. For me, heaven was the octagon. Until I met Millie, and heaven became something different. I became something different. I knew I loved her when I watched her stand perfectly still in the middle of a crowded room, people swarming, buzzing, slipping around her, her straight dancer’s posture unyielding, her chin high, her hands loose at her sides. No one seemed to see her at all, except for the few who squeezed past her, tossing exasperated looks at her unsmiling face. When they realized she wasn’t normal, they hurried away. Why was it that no one saw her, yet she was the first thing I saw?
If heaven was the octagon, then she was my angel at the center of it all, the girl with the power to take me down and lift me up again. The girl I wanted to fight for, the girl I wanted to claim. The girl who taught me that sometimes the biggest heroes go unsung and the most important battles are the ones we don’t think we can win.

More (More Book 1) (More Series) by Sloan Parker -- Review

More (More Book 1) (More Series)More (More Book 1) by Sloan Parker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I had heard about this book previously from a male/male book group and I had trouble finding it, or else I would have read it a lot sooner. To say it is a good book is putting it mildly. Luke, Matthew, and Richard have a very hot, very loving relationship (even if not all parties are able to admit they are in love yet)

This book not only touches on the hardships that gay couples have to face but adds in another stigma of gay menage -- something people just do not understand.

Ok so lets break it down:
The Good - It is a super hot, sexy book. Full of sheet scorching scene's, full of pushing the limits, a book that is not afraid to push beyond the norm.

The Characters
Luke is your damaged soul -- he is the one who doesn't know he wants love, denies he needs it, does everything to avoid it -- yet his heart just decides it is time. Luke brings to the relationship a past full of hurt, a psychotic Father who is a Senator and hates gay people (even his son) oh and guess what, yep his dad is in the closet! Luke's mom is portrayed as a woman with no backbone who lets her husband disown Luke and does nothing to stand up for her son.

Matthew - He is the youngest. The most energetic. My only problem with Matthew is the author portrays him as walking sex, like he lets sex guide his life. He is a walking, talking orgasm -- but he is a man so maybe that is normal? Matthew he is not without damage himself. His damage is just a little harder to figure out. What we know immediately is he hates alcohol. We find out why towards the last twenty percent of the book.

Richard - The old soul. The one who has been in a long-term relationship, recently separated. Wants committment, has money, has a savior complex -- wants to fix all of Luke's and Matthews problems.

The Could have been better -- This book goes from these men not knowing each other to them essentially integrating themselves into each others lives. It is unrealistic in that aspect (unless I am just getting old) but seriously, Luke and Matthew have seen each other at The Haven in the past, not that they have ever talked to each other or interacted -- nope just seen each other. Then one day they see each other and neither of them are with another person, so they decide "Lets hook up".. but wait, we want a third to join us. So they go on the prowl and identify another unknown person who just happens to be in the club, someone neither of them have seen before. They then decide its time to move it upstairs, hot sex follows, statements of this wont be a repeat because none of them do repeats (or do they) and they all go their separate ways. Until the next time at the club where they have a repeat, and then another night another repeat.. so they are together three times and boom Richard decides he wants to date these men and explore outside the club -- build a relationship -- they go on a date and the next thing you know they are moving in together SUPER FAST, RIGHT?
The book slows down from here and they actually do start to get to know each other, and then the conflict occurs where Luke becomes gun-shy thinking he is ruining Matthew and Richards life so what does he do.. he runs! But he doesn't get far because Richard and Matthew are there to save him. It is romantic, yes I know.. it is a book, yes I know. But it just seems like maybe the author could have slowed it down a bit and let them get to know each other a little better ... but honestly that is my only problem with the book.

Overall -- I still give this story 4 stars, even with all the issues of rushing a relationship if you look past that it is a great story. I am hoping that the second book will be more balanced. Only time will tell.
