Love on a Summer Night (Pine Harbour Series) by Zoe York

Title: Love on a Summer Night
Series: Pine Harbour Series Novel
Author: Zoe York
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Published: November 24, 2015

Never say never. Especially not to a determined bad boy.
Zander Minelli is exactly the wrong kind of man. He’s dark, dangerous, and knows far too much about sawed-off shotguns.
Faith Davidson finds him irresistible. The widowed single mother knows she should dip her toe back in the dating pool with someone solid and dependable. Definitely no tattoos. But every time she looks up, the brooding soldier is watching her, and she can’t help but wonder what it would be like to let herself have a taste…
Small town summer nights have never been hotter—and one transplanted city-girl’s heart has never been more fragile.
“If you've never read a Zoe York novel, start here. Read this story. Because this is the story that defines who Zoe is as a writer. This isn't her first book, but I feel it is the best representation of who she is as a writer.”-OMG Reads
“Wrapped up in a flawless writing-style, you get this book which indeed is just beautiful!”-Jeri’s Book Attic
“Romance books are a dime a dozen, same old storyline with young people falling too easily in love. Not with this series, a far more relatable story to her readers' more normal lives.”-Goodreads Reviewer
He settled between her legs, not grinding—just there. Hard and ready. More teasing.

She was going to explode from the delayed gratification. Lifting her hips, she took on the task of remedying that herself.

At the first roll of her hips, Zander paused his worship of her breasts. At the second, he redoubled his efforts, helping her get right to the brink—then he reared up and reached for the waistband of her jeans.

Oh no.

She wanted to be naked with Zander more than anything else in the world.

But even under the cover of darkness, she realized she wasn’t quite ready for Zander to see her naked.

She grabbed at his wrists and tried to pull him back down on top of her. Maybe they could just dry hump. That had been hotter than it sounded. It had been hotter than her fantasies, and she was a writer with a pretty expansive vocabulary and a deep understanding of the dirty side of the Internet.

He wouldn’t be deterred. His fingers slid beneath her waistband, making her soft tummy quiver, and not in a good way. Okay, mostly a good way with just an edge of fear. But she still pushed at his hands.

He gave her an amused look. “Stop batting my hands away. I want to feel it when you come.”

She sighed, suddenly nervous, and he gave her another look, this time one of dawning awareness. She tipped her head back. The stars were so bright tonight. “I’ve got battle scars,” she whispered. “Stretch marks and a c-section incision that didn’t heal properly. You’ve only seen the good bits.”

Zander settled back on the blanket beside her and nuzzled into her neck. “Seriously? You don’t think I’ve got scars? Let’s go toe to toe.”

“Yours are different.” He was beautiful. All sculpted muscle and delicious shadows. “New plan. I’m going to touch you.”

“Be my guest.” His voice was low and rough, like a tumble of falling rocks. Danger, her heart thumped. He rolled away from her and pulled off his t-shirt, baring the tattoos that had caused her so much anxiety just a few days earlier. The flickering light from the fire caught the edge of a raised scar on his rib cage, and she sucked in a breath as she reached out and traced the knotted tissue that looked suspiciously like a slash in his skin.

“What happened?” she asked in a quick rush, then shook her head. “No. I don’t think I want to know.”

“You don’t. But it’s okay, I’m alive and here. That’s all that matters.”

ALPHA BOOK CLUB REVIEW

5 star read
Heat: 2

Her Sweetest Downfall was a great 5 star read.
Historical Romance, Ugly Cry, Alpha Male

The notion of giving birth in the middle of war didn’t appeal to her, nor did the thought of conceiving a baby with him.

This was a great historical read. It is a story of love, pain and heartbreak during a war.

Blurb:
At the height of the London Blitz, Viola Craft, a sexually repressed young woman is trapped in a loveless marriage to her God fearing husband Vernon. She spends her days working in her mother's dress shop while Vernon pulls the dead from the rubble with his rescue crew.
Their marriage is turbulent and Viola feels pressured to bear a child. After failed attempts, Vernon believes she's barren and alienates himself from their marriage.
One night during an air raid, she meets alluring German born Kristoff Richter. They make an in-stant connection. He's young, good looking and emphatic. They embark on an illicit affair that leads to tragic consequences.

Viola seems to be stuck in a marriage with a husband that falls short in the love and caring department. Her husband is pressuring her to have a child and she refuses with the war going on. He accuses her of being barren and makes her feel terrible.

During an air raid Viola finds herself being protected by a stranger, Kristoff. Viola ends up falling for Kristoff because of his compassion and kindness.
Will Viola finally get the loving husband and family that she has always desired?

The longer this war goes on, the weaker we become. We do things we shouldn’t, love people we shouldn’t. You act foolishly to keep them close, only for a second, all the while war rages on, and people around you lose loved ones. In the end, you have to stop and think if it’s worth the risk.”

I was pleasantly surprised with all of the unexpected twists and turns. My emotions were all over the board. The ugly cry may make an appearance. This is my first read from Kellie Wallace and I loved every minute of it. She draws you in with her writing.  1-Click Her Sweetest Downfall today. If you like Historical Romance with twists you will love this.

18+ This title contains explicit language and sexual situations and depictions. Reader discretion is advised.

“Are you having second thoughts about this, Quillen?” “No, I just don’t want you to think this is all about the sex to me. I hoped when we finally arrived at this point I’d have time to wine and dine you before we ended up screwing like bunnies. Not to mention, this is your brother’s house. You sure he’s not going to come for me if he finds out I’m screwing his baby sister?” She crawled over to him, straddling his hips, planting the seat of her jean-clad cunt over his hardening dick. Damn, he hadn’t even gotten her completely naked and he could feel his balls inching up. She pushed against his chest, and he leaned back, taking her with him, until his back was flat against the bed. She placed her hands on either side of his head and braced the weight of her slim build on her locked arms. “Funny enough, just before my brother told me to bring you over here, he insisted that I get laid.” “Your brother told you to bring me here to have sex with me?” He didn’t care how cool John was, there wasn’t a man alive who cared about his sister that would invite some shit like that to go on in his house. She laughed a bit and shook her head. “No, John doesn’t know that you and I have been seeing each other. He is concerned that I’m working too hard and not spending enough time enjoying the important things in life like fun, food, and fucking.” Alan nodded his head, that he could definitely picture her gruff brother saying. “You took care of me, Alan. You didn’t have to, and even when I threw myself at you, you didn’t take advantage of me. I’ve never met another man who’d do those things and didn’t expect anything in return. I’m not sleeping with you because I feel as if I owe you something. I’m sleeping with you because I’ve wanted to fuck your brains out since you first walked into my office five years ago. The fact that you did all that nice shit for me beforehand, well, that just makes me want to get naked with you even more.” “God woman, that mouth,” he chuckled against her lips “If my memory serves me, you said, ‘You have the sexiest fucking mouth I’ve ever seen. It would look so much prettier stretched around my cock than spewing the venom you insist on spitting.’ Did I get that right, Quillen?” “Every fucking word,” he growled. “Then let us make better use of our time and my mouth,” she suggested.

ALPHA BOOK CLUB REVIEW

Title: Power Privilege & Pleasure
Series: Queens of Kings Book 4
Author:LaQuette
Genre: Suspense/Interracial Romance

Power Privilege & Pleasure was a 5 star read.

Her focus on her work alone would forever keep her out of the kind of trouble that nearly destroyed her seven years ago.

You get to know AJ better in this book. You get to see her softer side and what made her the way she is. The chemistry between AJ and Alan is very steamy.  I loved AJ’s in your face attitude. You could tell Alan really loved her because of what he put up with.

It was also great seeing Heart and Kenneth and the Amare family again.

This is a wonderful series and should be read in order to understand the story.
I’m looking forward to True and Teague's story. This is must read series from LaQuette, thank you for another great read.
