I found this novel to be such a mixture of different genres of books with a target audience being
more for the adults rather than the teens as you would with the violence of the Hungers Games
series or the novelty of the love in the Twilight series, surprisingly, I enjoyed it. I’m used to
reading novels written for teens or children and then their storylines or their key aspects are
twisted to become dark, erotic or even unrecognizable. Jayne Faith and Christine Castle are
sensational together, and I don’t say this often about new authors that I’ve never had the
chance to read in the past. I enjoyed the fact that The Selection wasn’t complicated to follow,
that although there was romance, it wasn’t overpowering to a point where it overtook the main
plot, and the paranormal was simply divine (and I love my paranormal like I love my coffee, a
specific way and rarely am I lenient on the far reached). As the first book in a series, I simply
can’t wait to see what these two authors will come up with for the next tomes.
