Work Song by Danielle Allen
When society tries to put you in a box, knock the walls down. –Tati Green
“You have a pretty face” is such a back-handed compliment. It’s like telling me that my face is beautiful, but the rest of me is not.
Despite what society says, my curves are hot.
My love life, on the other hand, is not.
My mom says I’ll never find love because of my weight.
My sister says I’ll never find love because of my personality.
My almost-fiancĂ© says I’ll never find love because I’m incapable of loving anyone.
My mom and sister are full of it, but my ex kind of has a point.
At twenty-seven years old, I’ve never been in love. I date a lot, yet sparks never fly. But when I experienced the heart-pounding, skin tingling feeling for the first time, I didn’t think it would be caused by a guy I’ve never met. And I damn sure didn't think he would end up holding my future in his hands in more ways than one.
Danielle Allen is the author of the Back to Life Series (Back to Life, Back to Reality, Back to December*), Love Discovered in New York, Autumn & Summer, the Heartache Series (Heartache, Heartfelt, Heartless*) and Work Song.

Body shaming. It’s a reality. Dieting, models, magazines, runways, commercials, these are
some of the examples of the most predominating areas where women, children, men, teens,
anyone will find ‘the perfect’ size and ‘perfect’ body types. Since when has society decided that
there is a perfect body for every age? Or that we are supposed to act a certain way? As a
parent, it still amazes me that we encourage children to start speaking and when they do, we
are as quick to encourage them to be quiet; children are not meant to be seen and not be heard.
Danielle Allen, and from a new generation of authors, are coming out of their shells, an amazing
trend that encourages loving their curves, loving what their ‘mama gave them’ and hate the
body shamers and praise companies like Dove and Olay who remind us we ARE unique and
not meant to diet and these include our children. An amazing character who shows us what
believing in ourselves, embracing our talents and never giving up on our dreams, Tati is the type
of woman we should only hope our daughters could strive for. Danielle Allen knows her stuff,
and this, I’m not including what was previously mentioned, she is amazing at writing steaming
sexual scenes and, intriguing and enticing storylines that I would recommend for any reader
looking for something new to add to their library.

He flashed back to the night he’d killed her. He’d sat in a black van parked right next to her car in the parking garage. It had taken hours for her to emerge. He’d nearly fallen asleep waiting for her. He heard the sound of her heels clicking on the pavement and looked up to see her make her way to her car. He’d watched and waited, his hands nearly breaking the steering wheel as she approached. His stomach was in knots and his palms were sweaty and shaking. She got to her car and fumbled with her keys. He quickly pulled his baseball cap down to cover his face and tugged at his black hooded sweatshirt and pulled it up as he jumped out of the van.

I loved this book and all the characters involved. It follows four siblings and how each one's life is effected after their mother is murdered. But everything changes when they find out their “perfect” mom isn’t the person she made herself out to be!!! OMG you have to read this book, it’s so insanely good, there are no words really!!!
