Hadley Daniels is tired of feeling invisible.

After Hadley’s best friend moves away and she gets on the bad side of some girls at school, she goes to spend the summer with her grandparents in the Lake Michigan resort town of Grand Haven. Her next door neighbor is none other than teen TV star Simone Hendrickson, who is everything Hadley longs to be—pretty, popular, and famous—and she’s thrilled when Simone treats her like a friend.

Being popular is a lot harder than it looks.

It’s fun and flattering when Simone includes her in her circle, though Hadley is puzzled about why her new friend refuses to discuss her former Hollywood life. Caught up with Simone, Hadley finds herself ignoring her quiet, steadfast friend, Charlotte.

To make things even more complicated, along comes Nick Jenkins…

He’s sweet, good-looking, and Hadley can be herself around him without all the fake drama. However, the mean girls have other ideas and they fill Nick’s head with lies about Hadley, sending him running back to his ex-girlfriend and leaving Hadley heartbroken.

So when her parents decide to relocate to Grand Haven, Hadley hopes things will change when school starts…only to be disappointed once again.

Cliques.

Back-stabbing.

Love gone bad.

The school year should end right after spring break, because all anyone can focus on is summer vacation. You can’t learn anything new, because all you can think about is all the fun stuff you’re going to do once you don’t have to get up at the butt crack of dawn. Summer always seems full of possibilities.

Nothing exciting ever happens during the school year, but maybe, during summer vacation, you could run into a hot celebrity and he’d decide to put you in his next music video. Okay, it wasn’t like I knew anybody that happened to, but my grandparents did live next door to a former TV star, Simone Hendrickson, and Simone was discovered in an ice cream parlor one summer. Of course, she lived in L.A. at the time and was already doing plays and commercials, so the guy who discovered her had already seen her perform. But hey, it was summer, she got discovered, and that was all that mattered.

Amazing stuff didn’t happen to me. You know what happened to me last summer? I stepped on a bee and had to go to the emergency room. They’re not going to make an E! True Hollywood Story out of my life. I didn’t go on exotic vacations—like today, I was being dragged along with my parents to my cousin’s graduation party. Most people waited until at least the end of May before having a grad party, but Charisma was having hers early because she was leaving on a trip to Spain. I was dreading this party because I didn’t want to listen to everybody talk about how smart and talented Charisma was—making me feel like a blob in comparison—but my mom RSVP’d even though I said I’d rather die than go. My death threats meant nothing. But still, for some strange reason, I had a feeling this summer was going to be different.

Get Real by Tellulah Darling
Genre: NA, Contemporary Romance
SeriesGet Real #1
Available September 26th, 2015

Get Real is a New Adult romantic comedy with sass, sex, and swoon, set in the world of “Cadabras"–humans with magical powers.

Francesca Bellafiore is a good Jewish girl, living up to family expectations that she use her magic to heal others. Underneath, she’s a wannabe badass with her heart set on becoming a detective and solving magical crimes. But nice girls don't disappoint their moms.

Party boy Rafael Muñoz does everything possible to publicly disappoint his high profile father. Privately, it's a different story. His carefully crafted bad boy reputation masks the fact he’s a master illusionist, forced into solo covert ops. The role is wearing thin and Rafael longs to be part of a team.

When Francesca meets Rafael at a friend's party, she's taken by the sexy stranger. Until he speaks. Beautiful plumage doesn't compensate for spectacular ego. Rafael finds Francesca's sweetness a turn-on. For about five minutes. Judgmental golden girls are more trouble than they're worth. Then a terrified girl with reality warping powers, locked and loaded on their destruction, whisks the pair to Manhattan. Francesca and Rafael are caught in a web of magic, minions, secrets, and enough sexual tension to power NYC. Desperate to prove themselves, their only chance to save the city and survive is to team up, trust each other–and maybe even fall in love.

Provided they don't kill each other first.

Get Real Teaser
POV: Rafael
I shoved my hands into my pockets, jiggling the loose change and wanting some kind of confrontation. I stepped outside. That girl with Byron who’d been staring and laughing earlier was candidate numero uno. Want to diss me? Do it to my face, chica.
I found her healing a gash on some guy’s cheek, holding a vase in her free hand while berating him for his choice in headwear. “Va bene. Go,” she ordered.
He slunk away with a sheepish look and I stepped up, my shadow falling over her.
“If you need medical services it better not be alcohol poisoning because I will not let you enjoy it.” She turned. Her fingers tightened on the rim of the vase at the sight of me.
“Hi,” I said.
She raised her chin, regarding me levelly with these amazing dark brown eyes. “It’s you.” Her sexy Italian accent hooked into me.
“Apparently.”
She fumbled the vase.
We both grabbed the same edge before it could hit the ground, my hand landing on hers. Her skin was cool and smooth. The rest of her was twitchy and flustered. It cheered me up in a petty way.
“Rafael. Call me Rafa. Official friend of the Byron–Jones hook up.” I patted my shirt down with my free hand. “I had a badge but I lost it.”
“Next time ask for a lanyard.” She tugged the vase away with a slight smile, tucking it under her arm like a football. What a mouth. ¡Dios mío! “I didn’t buy tickets to the event,” she said.
I pretended to look stern, mostly because I wanted to check her out some more. “You boycotting the games?”
That got me a full–on grin, which hit me in the gut. Who was this girl and how had I never seen her before?
“Seen one game, seen them all,” she said. She walked briskly past me back to the swing she’d been sitting on earlier and set the vase on the table.
I followed, sinking into the chair beside her. “You know my name. It seems unfair I don’t know yours.”
She hesitated for long enough that I wasn’t sure she was going to answer with anything other than “get lost.” “Francesca,” she said at last. She flicked her bangs off her forehead. “My mom works for your dad. You’re Javier’s son, right?”
Those words were like a douse of cold water. “Yeah.” I waited for her next words. Her next look. Her obvious disdain. I stiffened, reminded of why I had come out here in the first place and ready to rip into her.
“She’s a Liaison.” Even for the simplest of sentences, her hands gestured madly. Cute. “Mirella
Bellafiore.”
My heart sunk. Now I knew exactly who she was. And wished I didn’t. Francesca Bellafiore, golden girl. Latest pride and joy of the Bellafiore clan and totally off–limits to me. Javier would freak, which would be fun, but honestly? Good girls weren’t my thing. “Yeah, sure. I’ve met her. Guess you’re excited to start all that healing stuff.”
Disappointment and contempt? flickered in her eyes. Apparently hot girl and I were natural enemies. Figures. I wasn’t about to be an asshole to her though. It would ruin my façade.
I was about to make my excuses and go, but I noticed her twisting this hideous bracelet tighter and tighter into her arm. “You okay?”
Her hand stilled. “Are you reading me?”
“No,” I said with exaggerated patience. “I don’t go around reading everyone I meet. Don’t need to most of the time. People telegraph enough on their own.” I nodded at her reddened skin. She jutted her chin out. “People shouldn’t take everything at face value.”

Kellen Brand's inheritance turns out to be a whopper -- one dilapidated farm in West Virginia and one guardian angel! Since Kellen is convinced no sane woman would choose to live in Riverside, she vows to sell her farm and quick.

Her handsome and reclusive neighbor Luke Kenyon must block the farm sale or risk exposure of his family's secrets. While Kellen has located one potential buyer, she faces a town full of objectors. Someone is trying to frighten her off, and Luke is forced to step in and rescue her more than once.

Unfortunately, Kellen can't seem to stay out of trouble. She stumbles onto a clandestine hazardous-waste-dumping operation next to her farm, and she prays Luke has one more rescue up his sleeve. It's her only hope of staying alive.

Unless her mother really "did" leave her a guardian angel...

excerpt

Kellen stood waist deep in boxes she had dragged down from the attic. She slit the packing tape on one box and lifted off the lid. A swatch of faded pink paisley cotton covered the contents inside. Her eyes misted as she lifted one of her mother's old house dresses from the box.

Time reverted back decades in the blink of an eye, and she could see her mother standing at the stove, cooking the ever-present rice, and wearing this very dress. She buried her face in the material and inhaled deeply, almost imagining she caught a whiff of her mother's fragrance. Tears quickly formed. Without thinking, she pulled the dress on over her t-shirt and shorts and hugged her arms around her waist.

"Momma, I miss you so much," she whispered. "What will I ever do without you?"

As she rocked back and forth, she remembered the letter her mother's attorney had read -- I'm leaving you a guardian angel to keep you safe.

"I hope you're right, Momma," she whispered. "I think I need one to find my way, just like you said. I get more confused every day that I'm here."

She glanced down in the box and saw another of her mother's housedresses. Suddenly overcome with emotion, she strode for the back door in desperate need of a breath of fresh air. She sat down in the old rocker and gently smoothed the wrinkles in the worn pink dress. Tears flooded her eyes and tracked down her cheeks. She wanted one last hug from her mother. If only she had known when the end would come. She sniffled and swiped at the escaping tears.

A horse whickered.

"Are you all right?"

Kellen almost leaped out of her skin and twisted around to see Luke Kenyon astride his black stallion at the corner of the house. Overwhelmed with her sorrow, she’d never heard their approach.

She ducked her head to remove the last vestiges of tears. "M-memories," she said.

The single word threatened to bring another onslaught of tears. She glanced up and was surprised by the concern in his eyes.

"Sorry," he said. "It's a pretty dress. Pink becomes you."

The dress was tattered and close to threadbare in several places, but somehow this man knew how important it was to her.

"Thank you -- it was my mother's."

"I figured," he said softly.
