How do you protect the woman you love, when you fear you are the very person who could destroy her? Claudia McCoy has been told what she can't do enough for one lifetime. After a near-fatal childhood battle with juvenile diabetes and having to accept that her dreams of serving in the military would never come true, she's thrilled to begin a life on her own terms. Yet, when she finally starts her career in the FBI, Claudia is furious that her condition and overbearing big brother, Wyatt, have both once again interfered with her ability to have the life she truly wants. Now derailed from her high-profile aspirations of a position in the FBI's D.C. headquarters, she is instead planted far away from the real action, and practically right in her brother's Pittsburgh backyard. Trey Adler is known for fixing things, but he's broken just as many — leaving him with regrets that never go away. He'd be the first to agree he should stay away from a nice girl like Claudia, but he can't deny his friend Jenna Sutherland's request when she asks him to use his position as a temporary FBI consultant to keep Claudia safe — especially as it's clear this little firecracker needs protecting. Far away from all the action she so craves, Claudia is more determined than ever to prove herself in her first major investigation at whatever cost — and those costs are proving to be dangerously high. Their battle of wills turns quickly into a powerful need for one other, making them both rethink everything they ever wanted. Will Trey be able to keep her alive long enough to give them an opportunity at something real together — a future that can survive the danger in their present, as well as the darkness of his past?   ast live

Looking up into his sharp gray eyes, Claudia licked her lips and asked, "Why don't you have a tattoo here, Trey? You have them all over your chest, but not here where your heart beats." "I'll answer your question about the bare spot over my heart, but you have to answer one for me. It's been bothering me ever since I met you." "Okay, shoot." "Are you sure? You won't like it, but you'll still have to tell me the truth." Trey's fingers were slipping back and forth against her thighs, caressing her lightly. "What?" she sputtered out. "Of co-ourse. It's a waste of time for me not to tell the truth. I suck at lying." "Being bad at lying and being honest are two very different things." "Fine. I promise to be honest," she answered, her throat drying with each persistent press of his hands, punctuated by the gentle circular motion of his thumbs against her inner thighs. "Good. Then this will be an easy way for you to get what you want." "Um, okay. What do you want to know?" "Are you a virgin?" "That's your question?" "Yes," he answered, letting his hands squeeze the sides of her legs, hard, sending a new set of shocks and tingles along her nerve endings. "Last night you ordered me to deal with you. Well, then I deserve to know what I am dealing with." She swallowed roughly, trying to use her prior irritation to pull herself back to reason. "It's a ludicrous thing to ask. Plus, it's such a dumb male thing to care about or think you have the right to know." "Uh-uh, little one. You're not answering my question. If you want to start making rules, then you have to be able to play by them, too." "What do you think is the answer? I'm twenty-three..." she said, her breaths coming out in short puffs of air. Claudia pressed her palms on the table, trying to get up. Trey slammed his hands over hers and met her eyes with a blazing fury that made his gray irises look like swirling, melted steel. "You're doing it again, Claudia. I've got all the time in the world, nowhere to be...and no desire to answer your question. If you want to back out so I don't have to tell the truth, then so be it." She moved her face to avoid his eyes, "You're ridiculous." Trey leaned in closer to her, using his nose against her cheek to force her face back toward his. He slid it across the length of her face, pausing to briefly brush his lips over her skin and suck on her earlobe, making her gasp out loud. When his teeth bit down on the flesh gently, Claudia couldn't help but release an embarrassing moan. His warm breath tingled against her moistened skin, when he asked again, this time with a whisper, "Are...you...a...virgin?" "No," she breathed out roughly. Trey moved so he was facing her, staring squarely in the eyes as he challenged her, "No — you've had mind-blowing sex that turned off that crazy, intense mind of yours and made you stop trying to control everything? Or you've had a dick in you?" "You-you dirty piece of —"
"Eh, eh, eh. Answer the question."
"Fine. I had sex when I was twenty." Trey's hands clenched a bit over hers, but his stare didn't waver from hers. When he stayed silent, she added, "He was my best friend. His name is Trevor. I felt it was important to get it out of the way and he was comfortable with my viewpoint, I guess. Are you happy now?" Claudia barely moved an inch, but Trey made it clear she wasn't going anywhere until he let her. "Yup, just like I thought. For all intents and purposes, you're a virgin, little one. And since we're being honest with each other, I would like nothing more than to be your real first... It could be the only way I ever get you to listen to me." Claudia swallowed a gasp until the air turned into an awkward bubble in her throat. The thrill in her chest dissipated quickly as Trey's face fell, and he added, "The thing is, your answer confirms you're a nice girl. The problem is — I'm not a nice boy. And that's something we both have to deal with." His words simultaneously frustrated and saddened her. She took a deep breath and muttered, "Your turn." Trey leaned away from her, and rubbed the left side of his chest a bit, looking away from her. He turned his eyes back to hers. There was no wicked gleam in his eyes, or smirk to lighten the mood. All that remained was dejection, and something even darker — almost ominous, though she couldn't quite place it. "I don't have any tattoos there because I felt it was important to leave the area around my heart bare. It doesn't deserve anything...it's my weakest organ." He moved away from her, but she didn't stop him this time.   12439256_846963392087377_3464652217896429001_n

Synopsis
There’s a price to pay for living the fast life…
Gabriella Hernandez—known to her friends as Riel—almost wishes she could stay in prison. At least there she has steady meals, and a girlfriend who loves her. Even a cold cell is better than what’s waiting for her on the outside. The only people she looks forward to seeing in her normal life are her sister, Lizette, and her green-eyed best friend and former drug-running partner, Evan.
Drugs, danger, and a hot spark of romance…
Upon release, Riel has no choice but to go back to work for her brother-in-law, Isaias. This time, instead of running drugs, he forces her to work in his strip club where she gets a lousy ten percent of her tips. The daily dose of threats and coercion chains her to this place. And, if she makes a run for it, she’d be abandoning everyone she loves. With Isaias’ spies and henchmen everywhere, there’s nowhere to run.
A crooked cop, a setup, and hope for a real life…
Evan is able to smuggle her out of the city, but it isn’t long before Riel’s fears come true. After a bloody shootout with Isais’ men lands Evan at death’s door, it’s up to her to get them out of this deadly game, and into the quiet life they’ve always wanted. With the help of a crooked cop and the FBI, she concocts a plan. If it succeeds, Isaias goes to prison for life, and she and Evan get immunity from prosecution. If she fails, she may die—along with Evan, her sister, and countless others.

He gave her a searching look, then brushed his lips against hers. “I know it’s not easy for you, being back.”
She raised her eyebrows. “You do?”
“I know how hard it was for you, working for Isaias. You never wanted to, he made you. You never said anything, but I could see it.” His jaw tightened. “I’d beat the fuck out of that guy if he and Maria wouldn’t have me killed for it.”
“Definitely not worth it,” Riel said, feeling a jolt of fear. But it also felt good for him to say that. Did he really want to stand up for her?
A slow grin spread across his face, and he ran his fingers lightly along the curve of her waist.
“I do have a way for you to get away from him, though.”
They gazed at each other. Her heart sped up. “What do you mean?”
“I recently got an offer from a guy I know named Mishmash.”
Her speeding heart stumbled, and she chewed the inside of her cheek. She had been hoping his plan wouldn’t involve more drug running, but she should have known. “I know him. The guy down in San Diego.” “The very same. He says we can go work for him. A little more risk, maybe, because we’d have to cross the border, but it pays a lot better, and Isaias would never find us if we were down there. We could get new identities and everything so you don’t have that rap following you, and to hell with that probation crap.”
She took a deep breath and let it out. It would be nice to be with Evan. It would be really nice. But the thought of running drugs again made her feel dead inside. “I don’t know, Evan.” She looked up at him. “Do you really want to do this stuff for the rest of your life?”
He stroked her hair, gently working the tangles out with his fingers. “No. Not really. But…we could save up our money and retire somewhere where they’d never find us.” He kissed her, his hands sliding up to play with her breasts. She kissed him back, twining her legs with his, feeling a spark of hope. Did he really want to run off with her and get a house together? Or did he just need a partner in crime?

Excerpt
Noah’s eating his breakfast and sipping my abandoned coffee when I return from my “shower”. He’s looking like the picture of wealth in a gray V-necked sweater and black slacks, damp hair finger-groomed back from his face. He scans me as I reenter the kitchen, while I raise an eyebrow at my coffee in his hand. “You showered again?” My palms smooth down the front of my uniform. “Yep. Felt a little icky from the spilled coffee.” Taking a sip of my coffee, he shifts his eyes to my hair. “Coffee got in your hair, too?” My hand reaches up to pat my hair. It’s damp, held up with a claw clip. Uh-huh, I’d ducked my head under the shower to drown my pathetic masturbation noises, because, well, I’m hella vocal. Yes,” I stress, fixing a hand to my hip, daring him to challenge that, even though he very well could, considering he saw and knew the coffee splashed only my feet. “And why are you drinking my coffee? You couldn’t pour your own?” Cutting a piece of pancake, he slathers it around in a sea of syrup before forking it into his mouth. “I pay you to do that.” He has a point, so I don’t lip further and pour myself a new cup of coffee. Noah finishes up, wipes the corners of his mouth, and fixes his gaze on me. Again. “I notice you don’t run at all. Mornings, or evenings. That morning in the park in Brooklyn, was that a one-time thing?” “Nope.” I shrug. “I love running actually. But I guess I just don’t have the motivation to anymore.” Translate, not even my love for cardio, sweat and a palpitating heart can get me to leave this apartment. “I can be your motivator,” he volunteers. “Run with me in the mornings.” “Nah, I—” “Ah, I’m sorry, I just made that sound like a suggestion, didn’t I?” he cuts in. “It’s not. You run with me in the mornings. New amendment to the contract. Also, I’m told you order groceries in instead of going out?” What the hell? Who’s ratting out? Does he have people watching me or something? “I wasn’t feeling well those times,” I prevaricate. “You do realize you haven’t set a foot out of the building in over two weeks, right?” “I have agoraphobia,” I lie again, staring him head on. Unbeknownst to me, the bastard has been paying more attention than I thought, observing, studying. And now he’s digging. He’s not stupid, so he’s probably figured it out by now than I’m hiding, and is curious about from who or what, thus poking his nose were it doesn’t belong. Really,” he stresses, amused lips twitching at the corners. “That would have been the perfect answer if I didn’t know you’re lying.” “I’m not—” “Save it, Lotty,” he curtails. “You’re running from something, and I wish you would just tell me so I can help you.” “I don’t need your—” “Until you learn to trust me as more than your ‘boss’, I’m going to need you to re-sign this amended contract. Before I leave.” With one finger, he pushes the suspicious manila envelope that’s been sitting next to his plate across the counter to me. “If you do not agree with the amendments, your employment is terminated, effective immediately.” I stare at the envelope, not wanting to open it. Employment terminated. Effective immediately. If I disagree. And disagreeing is not something I can afford at this juncture. I don’t have enough saved up, plus the penthouse is spectacular. ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah with all those boring points,’ Reckless Lotty mumbles with an eye-roll. ‘What about his chest, and his throat, and his super intense, intimidating hot-as-sin stare?! No, we most certainly cannot disagree until we’ve had our fill of him.’ Rational Lotty groans, “Oh, dearest Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, why do I even bother? “Just tell me what you added,” I begrudgingly mumble. “In case you haven’t noticed from the last contract signing, I don’t like reading boring crap.” “And she wants to become a lawyer,” Noah murmurs as he draws the envelope across the counter back to him, opens it and slides out the contract. He shakes the envelope and a pen falls out. Placing the pen on top of the contract, he pushes it across to me once more. “I’m responsible for your well-being, your safety, and your comfort. You run with me in the mornings. You will have a driver slash bodyguard assigned to take you wherever you need to go and keep you safe—you’ll meet him this afternoon. It is my duty to provide you with anything, material or otherwise, that will contribute to your comfort here and peace of mind in my home slash your workplace—and you deserve the right ask for what you need whenever I fail to recognize that need.” Mouth hanging open, I blink at him. Then, I explode, “Are you kidding me?! I don’t need to have a law degree to know that this is bullshit! You do not find terms like that in a contract unless it’s for a pimp and his hooker!” “A contract is a contract. Doesn’t matter what’s in it. There’s no standard format to draft a contract. It could be as informal as two signatures on a napkin. Once you sign it, you adhere to the terms.” “I’m your housemaid. What the hell? You want to buy me stuff, assign me a body guard and force me to run with you? What’s the next amendment going to be? Huh? That I’m required to be naked and spread-eagled in your bed before you get home in the evenings?” His casual, amicable demeanor shifts as his whole body goes rigid. Eyes frosting over, lips pressing together, he picks up the contract and shoves it back into the envelope. “You don’t want to sign it, fine. I was trying to help, because that’s who I am. I help people. I don’t take advantage of lost and screw-up little girls. I crossed the line with you a couple of times when I knew I shouldn’t have, and I apologize for that. It was not professional. “But you know what, I’m done caring. You’re as jumpy as a rabbit, goddamn terrified of who-knows-what. You have no phone, you take classes on a piece-of-shit laptop, and you use a handbag that’s held together with a safety pin. I have a habit of caring too much about people, and that’s where I always go wrong. Obviously, girls like you prefer the callous type, the men who show no attentiveness or care at all, the men who notices nothing, that way you can analyze the shit out of it and convince yourself that it means the opposite. But the one who does care, the one who sees you, he’s the one accused of trying to take advantage. My bad, Lotty. My bad.” Tall, dark, and seriously pissed-off, he tucks the envelope under his arm, turns, and strides off. ‘Way to go,’ Reckless Lotty grumbles. ‘That’s what happens when you listen to Rational—’ ‘Hey!’ Rational Lotty snaps defensively. ‘I did not tell her to disagree. Frankly, I think it’s a good deal. She screwed that up all on her own.’ “So, does that rant mean I’m fired?” I call after him. Noah stops and begin to turn, but then the elevator pings, pausing him. “Goooood morning, Mr. Van Der Wells,” I hear a sexy-as-hell male voice sing with a panty-melting British accent, followed by strong footfalls across the wooden floors. Noah frowns. “You’re early, and I told you I’d meet you downstairs. That keycard I gave you is for emergencies only.” “But I do have an emergency,” the sexy-as-hell British voice returns. “I needed a place to hide my hard-on. This tight little wench downstairs, a total prick tease—” “Too early,” Noah clips. The owner of the sexy-as-hell voice turns the bend just then, and…wow. Wow. Just…wow. Reckless Lotty faints. Rational Lotty is speech impeded. This man, or this Adonis, or this Roman King, is hot. Great height, really great bod, lush brown hair cropping just below his ears, brilliant, mischievous blue eyes, and nice, luscious lips fixed into a smirk. Light denims, a white-as-heaven button down shirt, a lock of brown hair flopped onto his forehead, masculine hand holding a Starbucks cup. He appears to be around Noah’s age, but his aura tells his disposition is less mature. I’m standing there ogling the Adonis when his wandering gaze locks on me, and his smirk morphs into a grin. “Yes, yes, yes,” he says cockily, answering a question no one asked. “I woke up like this.” Usually, I hate cocksure pricks, but I can’t help the giggle that escapes me as I purposely step from around the kitchen counter so he can get a full view of me. Without hesitation I would have a fling with this man in a broom closet or in a men’s public bathroom if he demanded it. Then I would kick him to the curb for being an arrogant asswipe. Noah’s frown deepens as he glances between me and his friend. Adonis shifts his gaze to Noah, taking a sip of his coffee before saying, “I see now why you wanted me to wait downstairs, old chap.” Bedroom blue eyes moves to me again. “Is he treating you fair, pretty filly? If not, I have an open position, yeah? I know nothing about cleanliness. I’m a nasty, dirty, filthy little lad.” Smiling coquettishly at him—yes, I’m playing a game here. Unfortunately, Reckless Lotty is still unconscious, so I have to wing this one—I bite my lip and glance down coyly at my shoes, swaying ever so slightly from side to side. “Actually, that would be great. I just got fire—” “You’re not fired,” Noah’s hard voice slices in. He looks as if he’s about to combust. So green he could be a tossed in a salad bowl. Booyah! Right where I want him. Raising wide, artless eyes to him, I ask with feigned timidity, “I-I’m not?” Now Noah’s frown dips so deep it can pass as a scowl, and I bet he’s wondering what on earth is going on, who’s this innocent, wide-eyed girl, and what am I playing at? Keeping my job, that’s what I’m playing at. Because I screwed up royally. “No, you’re not,” he grounds out. “We’ll talk when I get back.” Like a kid on Christmas morning, I clap my hands and bounce on my toes, before advancing toward him with my hand out. “Here, let me sign this real quick so you can go.” Noah watches me like he has no idea who I am as I extricate the envelope from under his arm, slide out the contract and pen, hastily scrawling my signature. Handing it back to him, I smile something brilliant. “There.” Turning to Adonis, I say, “Sorry about that. Turns out we just had a misunderstanding.” “No worries.” He gives me a licentious scan. “Do you have a bloke, sweetheart?” Before I can get a response out, Noah growls, “She’s nineteen.” Eyes glued to my rack, Adonis replies, “Turn that nine upside down and I might care about age. The younger, the tighter.” I tamp down my snicker, only because Noah looks like he’s this close to ripping his friend’s head off. Completely oblivious to Noah’s bristling, Adonis seizes my left hand and gallantly presses a kiss on the back of it. “I’m Q for Qwesie. Qwesie James. Noah’s wingman, the horns on his temples, the venom on his tongue…” He pauses, frowns. “No. Wait. That doesn’t sound right.” This time I laugh out loud. Noah doesn’t. Still scowling. “If I were you,” I advise Q, “I’d let my hand go. “My boss is this close to head-butting you into unconsciousness.”

As soon as I was within reach, he reached out and linked his hands around my waist. I dropped my purse to the carpet and wrapped my arms around his neck. The warmth and comfort of his arms instantly relaxed me, my body leaning into his. It was as if Aiden was exactly what I’d been needing, even when I had no idea I needed anyone. He was more than that, though. He had always been more than a man I would spend time with, a man I slept with. It was deeper than that. I knew that the friendship between us would last even after the physical side of our relationship eventually stopped. “Forgot how good you smell,” he replied, pulling his head back. “And I forgot how good you are for me in all ways.” “You’re good for a man’s ego, Aly,” he said with a grin and a squeeze of his arms. “Now, are you gonna make me stand out here all night, or are you going to invite me in?” “Detective Lawrence,” I said in feigned shock, holding my hand over my heart. “Shouldn’t you be warning me against inviting strangers into my apartment?” He pulled my body hard against his, dropping his lips first to my mouth then dragging them along my jaw before he stopped just below my ear. “I’ve been inside you more times than I can count, Aly, and I still can’t get enough of you. Doesn’t that tell you something?” Every word he said, every stroke of his fingers on my hips as he said them, sent jolts of electricity through me. My breathing sped up and my heart raced. He always had that effect on me and in that moment—and the head space I was in—it was exactly what I needed. I turned my head and ran my tongue around the curve of his ear before sucking his lobe between my lips and letting it go. “Wanna come inside, Detective Lawrence?” I rasped. He stepped back and bent down to pick up his duffle bag and my discarded purse. “Thought you’d never ask.”     TOUCH, Sovereign Book One Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon AU | iBooks | Kobo It started on a plane, a first class connection that spilled over into a lustful date on a rooftop. Interracial couple being intimate in front of window
I’m in love with two men. One came crashing into my life like a whirlwind, equal parts thrill and destruction. The other is like a calm sea, weathering the storm with me, offering me comfort and stability and promising to fight for me until the bitter end.
I have to make a decision. Who do I choose?
Barrett Matthews is a force to be reckoned with, and he has made it his mission to win me over.
Aiden Lawrence has had a piece of my heart from the very beginning and has never let me down.
Both men can make me happy; both men can keep me safe.
In the end, my heart will break whoever I choose.
My only hope is that I can survive the decision I make.

About the Authors
RMsummerpic2
Yep. That's an “s.” There are two of us! We’re East coast girls separated by Long Island Sound who met in Physician Assistant School and have been besties ever since. We can safely say that thirteen miles of water does not get in the way because we talk or text, no exaggeration, at least 150 times a day. No, really, we do—about everything and nothing. Shockingly, we never (we mean never) run out of things to say. Umm, ever. We definitely laugh A LOT and we’re a tad sarcastic. And if we’re being totally honest, one or two people might have, on occasion, used our names and ‘dramatic’ in the same sentence. But it’s hard to trust the sources since they married us. It only took twelve years, two husbands, five kids, two dogs, and a two-week vacation in Cape Cod later to decide the romance world needed a splash of medicine. Write what you know. So you can easily find us at 4 o'clock on Bank Street beach with a glass of cold Prosecco brainstorming. And guaranteed if we bump into you, literally, it’s only because our iPhones are glued to our hands (totally out of our control) either writing or editing our next novel (and yes, it is possible to do from your iPhone, we mastered it … damn those straight quotations). When we are not working on our book or reading the latest angsty romance on our kindles, you basically name it and we have it going on. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, swimming, dance, gymnastics, football, chess, baseball, basketball, skiing, ice skating, school, homework, and more school. Oh yeah, did we forget to mention our careers in medicine? Needless to say, we realized fast that something had to go, so we opted for sleep. It’s completely overrated (yet so AMAZING) and delirium makes everything funnier. Good thing we share a brain and can pretty much complete each other’s sentences (definitely weird, we know), otherwise it might have taken us two years to write Beautifully Awake rather than one. So that’s our story, who we are … just add AUTHORS to the list!

Synopsis
Marcus "Snack" Snackenberg is a born ladykiller. When Minnie Cooper moves back to her dad's hometown as a child, with her two brothers and Star Wars action figures in tow, they become immediate friends. By junior high, Minnie, although unaware, is in love with him. Snack is completely in touch with his feelings for her. Sometimes the villain in the story isn't a person. Sometimes it's time. And space. And fear. Fear of losing the best friend you’ve ever had. Snack. An overnight romance…twenty-six years in the making.

Excerpt
Snack plops down on the bed next to where I’m standing. Reaching out for my boxers, he takes the hem between his thumb and forefinger and tugs it lightly. The back of his finger grazes my upper thigh, leaving tingly warmth in its wake. “Nice boxers,” he says. “Whose are they?” I have no idea. Probably my dad’s or Clip’s. I shrug. “I’ll bring you some of mine. I only want you wearing mine from now on.” “Uh, O-Kay.” I stutter in response to his demand and most definitely his touch. I have no problem with that. Must be another one of Snack’s weird possessive things. Snack twists the fabric of my boxers around his fingers and pulls me toward him. “Come here and kiss me. I can’t believe you haven’t kissed me yet.” My heart thumps out of control and my brain is frozen. I’ve heard actors say things like that in movies, but in real life? I guess it does actually happen.
