As if on cue, the lights flickered. My body lurched with the elevator, causing me to lose my balance and fall sideways into the corner. With his arms still held up, he fell straight forward and pinned me against the wall. The elevator lights flashed twice more before going dark, after which only the glow of the emergency light lit the confined space.
